Reclaiming Vital Resources

Considered a linchpin of The Ranch’s sustainability efforts, an innovative water reclamation system saves an estimated 21 million gallons of water annually across this oceanside property. It also provides irrigation for The Ranch’s 9-hole golf course certified by the Golf Environment Foundation for Sustainable Golf.

Savoring the Sea
The Ranch's signature Harvest restaurant serves organic wines, responsibly harvested seafood and locally sourced organic cuisine, much of which comes from the resort's own half-acre, biodynamic Harvest Farm. It is the first hotel in California to be recognized by both the Surfrider Foundation's Ocean Friendly Restaurants and Ocean Friendly Hotels programs.
Advancing Circularity
The first hotel property in North America to use an on-site GLSand bottle crusher, The Ranch's "Bottle to Bunker" recycling initiative transforms bottles into sand for its golf course bunkers. Additionally, composting at the resort's on-site Harvest Farm, bamboo room keys in place of plastic and the donation of excess toiletries to those in need through a partnership with Clean the World exemplify The Ranch's zero waste philosophy.
Embodying Destination Stewardship
The Ranch partners with the Ocean Institute to support marine science and environmental education as well as the Laguna Canyon Foundation, which supports habitat restoration and the preservation of open space within the 22,000-acre South Coast Wilderness. At the resort, excess food is donated to local organizations through Chefs to End Hunger. Guests can also engage with rehabilitated raptors and learn about efforts to protect these and other native species.
