The One Palácio da Anunciada

Many of the hotel’s conservation efforts stem from its attempts to eliminate plastic, from minimizing single-use packaging by purchasing kitchen and spa supplies in bulk to circular water solutions and removing single-use plastics from event and meeting setups. The One Palácio da Anunciada also uses design features to rely on natural lighting and reduce consumption, offers electric car chargers, raises eagles to control the ecosystem and encourage connection with wildlife, and incorporates recycling points throughout the hotel. Further, awareness campaigns motivate guests to make changes in their personal lives beyond their stay.

The dining venues at The One Palácio da Anunciada celebrate an on-site organic vegetable garden which sources fresh herbs and produce used in meals at the restaurant as well as drinks in the bar, spa, and reception area. The garden is also home to a hundred-year-old Dragon Tree, a reminder of the hotel’s dedication to biodiversity. Outside of its growing capabilities, the hotel emphasizes sustainability through its use of regional suppliers and avoids high-waste buffets in favor of plated options with a zero-kilometer food philosophy.

While protecting nature and its resources is incredibly important to The One Palácio da Anunciada, the hotel is also dedicated to maintaining culture and cultivating the local community. Throughout 2024 and 2025, the hotel has supported more than 20 different Lisbon-based associations to create a stronger, more resilient community. The hotel also has a partnership with Casa do Artista, an organization with its own housing for retired artists, allowing guests to donate to in support of Portuguese arts and culture.
