Starhotels E.c.ho.

Every month, Starhotels E.c.h.o plants a tree in the city to honor employees. New trees are placed in different locations around Milan with help from the Forestami Foundation. Its urban forestry project aims to mitigate the effects of climate change by planting three million trees by 2030, ultimately contributing to cleaner air, new bird habitats, and a more beautiful urban landscape.

Starhotels is a founding member of the Centrale District, an organization supporting local cultural and environmental initiatives in and around the Central Station neighborhood, such as popular “plogging” days, when participants pick up litter while jogging. Starhotel E.c.ho also partners with the local food bank, Banco Alimentare, and provides opportunities for guests to support the organization through donations. 

Slow food isn’t just good, authentic food; sourcing locally also benefits the regional economy. The hotel restaurant prioritizes the use of organic, locally grown, and seasonal Italian agricultural products along with micro-filtered tap water served in recycled glass bottles. Fair labor practices also guide the hotel’s policies and highlight Italian culinary and farming traditions.

To reduce the impact of food waste, the restaurant's left-over organic waste is composted. The kitchen also partners with the Too Good To Go app so that excess prepared foods can be sold at low prices to neighbors. In addition to its recycled glass drinking bottles, Starhotels e.c.h.o also provides recycled toiletries, electric bikes, and EV charging stations for guests.
