Menu for the Planet invites guests to experience gastronomy that showcases high-quality, low-impact choices. Designed to reduce the environmental footprint of food production, menus feature flavorful plant-based options that guests are choosing more and more, as well as responsibly farmed eggs and dairy. The hotel has seen a 15 percent increase in plant-based meal orders since the program started.

The hotel’s Zero Food Waste initiative is directed at staff and guests alike. Digital screens in dining areas display messages about the importance of everyday actions, asking diners to make more conscious food choices. Less food has been wasted since the program started, measured by the reduction in organic waste and a more efficiently managed food and beverage operation.

EK Hotel has planted 160 trees in the Colombian Amazon through Saving the Amazon, a nonprofit that provides resources to local Indigenous communities to help them protect and foster the new plants. The hotel also has an alliance with World Wildlife Federation of Colombia to protect the Andean bear’s habitat, supporting biodiversity conservation in key ecosystems of Colombia.
