Cavallo Point

Cavallo Point didn’t simply reclaim and restore the grounds of historic Fort Baker—during its construction, the hotel reused the former military base’s building materials while maintaining 100 percent of its exterior design and 75 percent of its interior walls and floors. These preservation efforts helped earn the property LEED Gold status from the U.S. Green Building Council as well as top architectural honors from the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

Seasonal menus feature fresh, organic ingredients sourced from producers in the San Francisco Bay Area. Guests can explore this culinary philosophy more deeply through demonstrations and hands-on classes at the Cavallo Point Cooking School, which emphasizes the three S’s: seasonality, sustainability, and stewardship.

Cavallo Point’s philanthropic giving supports local schools, eco-programs, museums, and additional community organizations. Through an optional $3-per-night surcharge, guests can also contribute to the non-profit Cavallo Point Fund, which benefits groups such as the Bay Area Discovery Museum, the Marine Mammal Center, Environmental Travel Partners, Wildcare, and The Conscious Kitchen, a school dining program focused on food equity.

Rotating exhibits at the hotel’s Art Gallery focus on sustainability and conservation while showcasing local artists and acclaimed nature photographers. Art is also featured throughout the guestrooms and common spaces, enriching the overall guest experience with a sense of place and environmental awareness.
