Impact in Action

How sustainability leadership comes to life at andBeyond Xaranna Okavango Delta Camp:

Protecting Wildlife

Protecting resilient, biodiverse landscapes is a priority for &Beyond, advanced through deep collaboration with partner communities, local governments and regional stakeholders. This commitment is reflected in the company’s long-standing work to help secure the future of white rhinoceros across sub-Saharan Africa. Since 2013, &Beyond has worked with multi-sector partners to translocate 202 white rhino to countries including Rwanda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania and Botswana, with rhino also moved into the Okavango Delta. By helping establish successful breeding populations across different regions, these translocations play an important role in strengthening the long-term survival of this key species.

Sustainability at Scale

Measuring and reporting on key sustainability data enables &Beyond to set ambitious goals for the future, including a company-wide target for 80% of its lodge portfolio to run on renewable energy by 2030. In the Okavango Delta, this commitment is already being put into practice. At Xaranna Okavango Delta Camp, their light-touch tented camp operates on a state-of-the-art electrical microgrid, with renewable sources supplying more than 80% of its power. Across the Delta, all &Beyond camps are solar-powered, and ongoing efficiency improvements continue to strengthen performance. In 2025, this contributed to a 27% reduction in carbon emissions per guest across the Okavango Delta operation, with further reductions on the horizon.

Committing to the Community

Climate change and economic pressures are leaving many areas of remote Africa with an uncertain future. A project developed with local leaders, and led by Wild Impact, &Beyond's longstanding community and conservation development partner, is addressing these challenges. The food security project transforms subsistence plots into productive, climate-resilient communal farms with solar-powered irrigation, shade houses and wildlife-resistant fencing. By mid-2025, more than 80 000 seeds had yielded 8 700 kg of produce, supporting vulnerable households while generating income through local markets and tourism lodges. With 27 farmers and Agriculture Facilitators guiding daily operations, communities are strengthening food security, generating income and planning for a more resilient future.
